Hex inverting Schmitt trigger

Each circuit of a 40106 functions as an inverter with Schmitt-trigger action, switching at different points for the high-going and low-going input signals. The difference between the the high-going and low-going thresholds provides hysteresis for enhanced noise immunity or to “square up” slowly changing waveforms.
