Biomorphic Maps

Where as the schematic of a particular BEAM circuit will give you detailed information about how the individual components should be assemble, it does not necessarily give you an intuitive understanding of just what that circuit is intended to do.
On the other hand, a Biomorphic Map of the Nervous Network embodied by that circuit is a graphical representation that provides you with high level view of how that Nervous Network is intended to function. This makes a biomorphic map far more useful than a schematic when it comes to understanding or explaining the intended behavior of that circuit and/or the corresponding BEAM robot.
The listed below are the type of symbols that are used to make a biomorphic map, and a few example maps:
