[edit] Oscillate

1) To swing back and forth with a steady, uninterrupted rhythm

2) To vary between alternate extremes, or to alternate between states, usually within a definable period of time.

[edit] Oscillator

1) A device that swings with a back-and-forth motion at a frequency determined by the properties of the oscillator.

2) A circuit that produces a waveform at its output, that alternates at a specific frequency. An oscillator generally consists of an amplifier, device that accepts a varying input signal and produces an identical output that has a greater amplitude. To induce oscillation part of the amplified output is returned to the input. This is called feedback. It is necessary that this feedback arrive at the input with no change in amplitude and phase. A bicore is an oscillator that produces a pair of complementary square wave, or rectangle wave output signals.

For a more complete explanation see the Wikipedia Article: Electronic oscillator

[edit] Oscillation

1) The act of alternating between states.

2) An individual cycle of an oscillating waveform.
