- A specific level of energy, or quantity of force, below which one state or condition arises, and above which an opposite state or condition arises.

[edit] Non-Schmitt type inverters
- Refers to the voltage level above which a signal on the input of the inverter will cause the output of that inverter to go low, and below which the incoming signal will cause the output of that inverter to go high.

[edit] Schmitt type inverters
- Refers to the low going or negative going threshold is the voltage level below which a signal on the input of the Schmitt inverter will cause the output of that Schmitt inverter to go high.
-And-
- The high going or positive going threshold is the voltage level above which a signal on the input of a Schmitt inverter will cause the output of that Schmitt inverter to go low.
- Datasheet 74AC14, hex Schmitt Inverter (PDF) Available from long time BEAM supporter Solarbotics
- Refers to a theoretical concept in psychophysics that proposes the existance of a sensory threshold below which a stimulus will not elicit sensation.
